Sony offers “Filmy”, a PlayStation®3 application to organize and view AVCHD videos recorded with Sony cameras

Sony offers “Filmy”, an application for the PlayStation®3 (PS3®) computer entertainment system, which lets users organize and view high-definition AVCHD videos. The application will be available as a free trial version*1 and a paid version through PlayStation®Store*2 in mid-February 2011.

When PS3®*3 *4 is connected to a TV, “Filmy” enables users to easily enjoy organizing and viewing AVCHD videos recorded with “Handycam”, “Cyber-shot”, or “a” *5. By connecting an AVCHD-recordable Sony camera to PS3® with the USB cable, users can enjoy recorded high-definition AVCHD videos smoothly with the high-speed processing engine of PS3®, organizing and viewing for many purposes. By introducing “Filmy”, Sony expands fun and easy options to view AVCHD personal contents.

3. Easily play back AVCHD videos with “Digest Play”
Utilizing the metadata recorded with videos, such as “Face Detection”, “Smile Shutter” and camera operations, “Digest Play” enables users to easily enjoy highlights of the videos without editing them. “Scene Search” enables users to find their favorite scenes quickly and easily. In addition, your favorite scenes can be registered by marking with “Favourite Stamp”.
